The second installment of Microsoft Tablet is announced and it is code named as Surface 2. Microsoft has packed some great specifications to this tablet, so now you can enjoy the comfort of tablet and the utility of Windows 8.1 without regrets. Microsoft Surface 2 sports a 10.6 Inch TFT Capacitive touch screen with multi touch upto 5 fingers. The full HD display looks brilliant as it packs in a resolution of 1920 x 1080 Pixels, ~208 ppi pixels density, 16 M Colours. Dimensionally this tablet is slimmer than its predecessor, it measures 274.6 x 172.5 x 8.9 mm (10.81 x 6.79 x0.35 in), Microsoft has marginally reduced the weight as it scales 675.9 gms (1.49 lb) & the flavour is just copy pasted from the predecessor viz; Dark Titanium. Microsoft has again provided a built in kickstand but this time around it stands in two stages. For typing pleasure it comes with ClearType Technology. The multimedia aspect of this tablet features 3.5 mm Audio Jack & Stereo Loud Speakers. The welcome feature is the Full HD display, rest specifications are almost the same as its predecessor. Now lets foray the technicalities of Microsoft Surface 2. Under the skin this tablet holds a Quadcore 1.7 GHz Cortex A-15 Processor, NVIDIA Tegra 4 T40 Chipset, ULP GeForce (72 Cores) GPU, 2 GB RAM. Technically Microsoft Surface 2 is upgraded generously from its predecessor, you wont regret on the performance front. This tablet will come out of the box with Microsoft Windows OS 8.1 RT The internal memory stored in this tablet comes in two variants viz; 32 GB / 64 GB & further Microsoft has stacked in a microSD card slot that supports upto 64 GB microSD card. The data connectivity aspect of Microsoft Surface 2 features Wifi, Wifi Direct, Bluetooth v4.0 with A2DP, microUSB v3.0, USB Host. While Microsoft again disappoints by skipping the GPS in this version also. The Primary camera on the rear panel is of 5 MP with LED Flash light, geo tagging, auto focus. This Primary camera is capable of clicking images of 2592 x 1936 Pixels resolution & record HD videos of 1080 P @ 30 fps. The secondary camera is of 3.5 MP & it can also record HD videos of 1080 P @ 30 fps. Microsoft has offered some goodies this time around like 200 GB of SkyDrive free storage for 2 years & Skype free international calls and Wifi for 1 year. Just below the rear panel sits a Non Removable Li-ion battery.
